What to Know

The Merrimack Warriors will look to defend their home court Tuesday against the Hartford Hawks at 7 p.m. ET. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W.'

A win for the Warriors just wasn't in the stars on Sunday as the team never even grasped a temporary lead. Things couldn't have gone much worse for them as they lost 72-43 to the Virginia Tech Hokies. Merrimack was surely aware of their 18.5-point disadvantage in the point spread, but the foreknowledge did nothing to prevent the result. Forward Jordan Minor (14 points) was the top scorer for Merrimack.

Meanwhile, Hartford was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap last Thursday as they fell 75-70 to the Boston University Terriers.

Merrimack is the favorite in this one, with an expected 5-point margin of victory. Those burned by picking them against the spread on Sunday might want to keep in mind that the squad has not yet dropped back-to-back games against the spread this season.

The losses put Merrimack at 3-3 and the Hawks at 0-5. A pair of stats to keep an eye on: The Warriors have only been able to knock down 36.50% percent of their shots, which is the lowest field goal percentage in college basketball. Hartford has experienced some struggles of their own as they have allowed their opponents to shoot 48.20% from the floor on average, which is the 18th highest shooting percentage allowed in college basketball. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
