What to Know

The VCU Rams and the Davidson Wildcats are set to square off in an Atlantic 10 matchup at 7 p.m. ET Jan. 18 at Stuart Siegel Center. The teams split their matchups last year, with Davidson winning the first 65-57 at home and the Rams taking the second 64-52.

VCU found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unfortunate 73-53 punch to the gut against the St. Bonaventure Bonnies this past Friday. Guard Adrian Baldwin Jr. wasn't much of a difference maker for VCU; Baldwin Jr. played for 31 minutes but put up just seven points on 3-for-10 shooting and four turnovers.

Meanwhile, the Richmond Spiders typically have all the answers at home, but this past Friday Davidson proved too difficult a challenge. Davidson skirted by the Spiders 87-84 thanks to a clutch half-court bomb from guard Michael Jones with 0:04 left to play. The Wildcats' Jones did his thing and shot 8-for-9 from beyond the arc and finished with 29 points.

Barring any buzzer beaters, the Rams are expected to win a tight contest Tuesday. Those interested in the spread don't face an easy decision since they are 10-5 ATS and Davidson 11-3.

VCU had enough points to win and then some against Davidson when the two teams previously met in March of last year, taking their game 64-52. VCU's win shoved Davidson out of the playoffs, so they have a target on their back.
