What to Know

The American Eagles will be returning home after a two-game road trip. American and the Lehigh Mountain Hawks will face off in a Patriot battle at 4 p.m. ET Saturday at Bender Arena. American is expected to win -- but not by much -- so they will need to come into the contest prepared for a fight.

American was expected to have a tough go of it last Tuesday, and, well, they did. They got maybe a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the George Mason Patriots an easy 67-44 win. Guard Stacy Beckton Jr. wasn't much of a difference maker for American; Beckton Jr. played for 31 minutes but put up just nine points.

Meanwhile, Lehigh was able to grind out a solid victory over the Eastern University Eagles on Wednesday, winning 70-63.

American is now 4-8 while the Mountain Hawks sit at 2-10. A couple stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: American is ninth worst in college basketball in points allowed per game, with 78.2 on average. Lehigh has experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the game with the 22nd fewest points per game in college basketball, having accrued only 63.3 on average. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
