Draft Scouting Report
Shyheim Battle is a tall, lanky, feisty outside CB. He wants to be physical at or near the line of scrimmage. He's reasonably active in run-support duties. Essentially built like a spindly safety and plays like one. There isn't an opportunity to hit that he passes on. Feet and hips are good, not great. Resorts to bumping during the route instead of mirroring because of those deficiencies. Played plenty of off-man and zone and has workable skills in both of those coverage types. Will click and close in a hurry and aggressively close on short in-breakers. Flipping hips then hitting the accelorators... not really his thing. Lacks some burst there. More of a diving tackler type that one who wants to square up in the hole. Long-striding speed pops on film but not a specialty to his game. Ball skills are good, not great/spectacular. Misses a fair amount of tackles because of that, but also makes an impact when he can latch on. Good sleeper prospect for a team that wants size, physicality, and off-man/zone skills in the secondary.
