Lane Johnson PHI OT
Eagles' Lane Johnson: Absent from Tuesday's practice
7m agoJohnson (foot) was absent from Tuesday's practice, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
If it is indeed a non-participation day for Johnson, it would mark the sixth week that the offensive tackle could not participate to start the week. The left tackle missed the last five games that started with this pattern, and as such, is on pace to miss Sunday's matchup against the Bills. Even if Johnson can practice this week, he may not start Sunday's game, as the Eagles have already clinched a playoff spot by winning the NFC East.

Josh Jacobs GB RB
Packers' Josh Jacobs: Set for limited practice
17m agoHead coach Matt LaFleur said that Jacobs (knee) will be a limited participant in Tuesday's practice, Weston Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site reports.
Jacobs shed his questionable tag and was cleared to play through his nagging knee injury in this past Saturday's 22-16 overtime loss to the Bears, but the Packers ended up managing his playing time more carefully than usual. Though Jacobs still earned 14 touches (accounting for 48 yards), Emanuel Wilson saw equal usage (14 carries for 82 yards) and outsnapped the former 33-28. On a positive note, Jacobs emerged from the game without any setbacks, which is supported by his presence on the field to kick off Week 17 prep. Jacobs will still have his reps managed Wednesday, but his limited session marks a step forward from his participation from last week, when he didn't practice in any fashion leading up to the matchup with the Bears. Jacobs should be ready to handle a heavier workload this Saturday versus the Ravens, barring any renewed soreness with his knee leading up to the contest.

Josh Whyle GB TE
Packers' Josh Whyle: Limited in Tuesday's practice
20m agoWhyle (concussion) will be a limited participant in Tuesday's practice, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
Whyle missed the Packers' Week 16 overtime loss to the Bears due to the concussion he sustained in the Week 15 loss to the Broncos. The tight end's potential return for Week 17 comes at a perfect time, as Tucker Kraft (ACL) and John FitzPatrick (Achilles) both have suffered season ending injuries, leaving Luke Musgrave as the sole tight end healthy tight end on the 53-man roster. If Whyle can clear the league's concussion protocol in time for Saturday's game against the Ravens, he will likely have a spot as the tight end No. 2, set to contribute in both the pass game as a receiver and the run game as a blocker.
-
Royce Freeman CHI RB
Royce Freeman: Back with Los Angeles
28m agoThe Chargers signed Freeman to the practice squad Tuesday.
Freeman was waived Dec. 16 to make room for safety Marcus Maye, but quickly finds himself back on the practice squad. The signing of fellow running back Jaret Patterson to the active roster due to the injury to Kimani Vidal (neck) seems to have cleared up a roster spot that the Chargers thought best used on additional depth at the position.
-
Malik Willis GB QB
Packers' Malik Willis: Limited to kick off Week 17 prep
28m agoHead coach Matt LaFleur said that Willis (shoulder) will be a limited participant in Tuesday's practice, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site reports.
After Jordan Love (concussion) was forced out in the middle of the second quarter of this past Saturday's 22-16 overtime loss to the Bears, Willis stepped in under center and moved the ball effectively. He completed nine of 11 passes for 121 yards and one touchdown while adding 44 yards on 10 carries, but the dual-threat signal-caller appears to still be banged up after landing hard on his throwing shoulder late in the fourth quarter. Love appears to be making some progress through the NFL's concussion protocol and will join Willis as a limited participant at Tuesday's practice, but LaFleur noted that the presence of both quarterbacks on the field to begin Week 17 prep doesn't necessarily make him more confident that either or both will be available for this Saturday's game against the Ravens, per Zach Jacobson of 247Sports.com. LaFleur added that how Willis and Love progress as the week unfolds will determine the availability of both signal-callers for the weekend.
-
Jaret Patterson LAC RB
Chargers' Jaret Patterson: Signed to active roster
31m agoThe Chargers signed Patterson to the active roster from the practice squad Tuesday.
Patterson has bounced between the Chargers' practice squad and active roster all season. The running back has played in four games, totalling 129 rush yards and a rush touchdown on 32 attempts. With Kimani Vidal (neck) questionable, Patterson could see carries in Sunday's game against the Texans as a rotational back behind the starter Omarion Hampton.

Ryan O'Hearn SD 1B
Pirates' Ryan O'Hearn: Gets $29 million from Pirates
34m agoThe Pirates signed O'Hearn to a two-year, $29 million contract Tuesday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
He'll have the opportunity to stretch the total guarantee to $30 million if he reaches $500,000 in incentives each year of the deal. O'Hearn has slashed .277/.343/.445 over the last three regular seasons between the Orioles and Padres and made his first All-Star team in 2025. The left-handed hitter reversed a career trend and hit better versus lefties (.832 OPS) than righties (.795 OPS) in 2025, so he could be an everyday player in Pittsburgh. With Spencer Horwitz manning first base, O'Hearn will likely see most of his playing time at designated hitter.
-
Jacob Webb TEX RP
Cubs' Jacob Webb: Grabs MLB pact from Cubs
2h agoThe Cubs signed Webb to a one-year contract Tuesday that includes a club option for 2027, Patrick Mooney of The Athletic reports.
Webb was non-tendered by the Rangers last month even after posting a 3.00 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 58:19 K:BB across 66 innings during the 2025 season. The 32-year-old right-hander should fill a middle relief role in the Cubs' bullpen.
-
Oddanier Mosqueda PIT RP
Pirates' Oddanier Mosqueda: Signs NRI deal with Pirates
3h agoThe Pirates signed Mosqueda to a minor-league contract Tuesday that includes an invitation to spring training.
Mosqueda pitched for Triple-A Memphis in the Cardinals organization in 2025, holding a 4.52 ERA and 68:31 K:BB over 65.2 innings. The left-handed reliever has yet to reach the big leagues but will compete for a roster spot in spring training.
-
Ryan Rolison CHW RP
White Sox's Ryan Rolison: Cleared from 40-man roster
4h agoThe White Sox designated Rolison for assignment Tuesday.
The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for Sean Newcomb, who was signed Tuesday. Rolison was a waiver claim of the White Sox earlier this month and will now be up for grabs on waivers again. He held a 7.02 ERA and 25:20 K:BB over 42.1 innings with the Rockies in 2025.
-
Sean Newcomb CHW RP
White Sox's Sean Newcomb: Inks one-year deal with White Sox
4h agoThe White Sox signed Newcomb (elbow) to a one-year, $4.5 million contract Tuesday.
Newcomb was terrific as a full-time reliever after being traded to the Athletics last season, collecting a 1.75 ERA and 50:14 K:BB over 51.1 innings. The left-hander will get an opportunity to start in Chicago, per Will Sammon of The Athletic, though he could eventually shift back to a relief role. Newcomb's 2025 campaign ended prematurely due to left elbow inflammation, but he should be ready to go for spring training.
-
Cole Young SEA SS
Mariners' Cole Young: Won't be blocked by outside add
6h agoYoung is expected to see the majority of playing time at second base for the Mariners in 2026 even if the team acquires a second baseman from outside the organization, Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon of The Athletic report.
The Mariners remain very high on Young even after he had just a .607 OPS in 257 plate appearances during his rookie season. Young is just 22, but the Mariners appear committed to giving him some leash in the majors in 2026. It seemingly makes a trade for Ketel Marte unlikely, and if Brendan Donovan is acquired, he would be in line to see the bulk of his reps at a position other than second base.
-
Jusuf Nurkic UTA C
Jazz's Jusuf Nurkic: Resting Tuesday
2m agoNurkic is out for Tuesday's game against the Grizzlies for rest purposes.
The expectation should be that the veteran big man will return to the lineup Friday against the Pistons, which is notably the first half of a back-to-back. Kyle Filipowski should handle the lion's share of the center minutes, with Kevin Love backing him up.
-
Grayson Allen PHO SG
Suns' Grayson Allen: Won't play Tuesday
4m agoAllen (knee) won't play Tuesday against the Lakers.
No surprise here, as Allen was previously listed as doubtful. With Allen out for a third straight game, Royce O'Neale is likely to see an uptick in minutes.
-
Ja Morant MEM PG
Grizzlies' Ja Morant: Another absence coming
5m agoMorant is out for Tuesday's game against the Jazz due to a sprained left ankle.
It'll be a fourth consecutive absence for the star guard, who can be deemed day-to-day prior to Friday's tilt against the Bucks. Cam Spencer is in line for heavy involvement in the depleted Memphis backcourt Tuesday.
-
Lauri Markkanen UTA PF
Jazz's Lauri Markkanen: Won't play Tuesday
6m agoMarkkanen (groin) won't play Tuesday against the Grizzlies.
Tuesday's game is the second leg of a back-to-back set, and Markkanen is being held out for right groin injury management. In other words, he's being held out for rest. This was a common occurrence in 2024-25, and it's a reason for his fantasy managers to be nervous.
-
Cam Whitmore WAS SG
Wizards' Cam Whitmore: Considered out indefinitely
9m agoWhitmore is out indefinitely due to deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
Whitmore has been dealing with right shoulder soreness, but he's since been diagnosed with a more significant issue. It's too early to gauge how long he might be sidelined, but fantasy managers shouldn't expect him back anytime soon. Whitmore's minutes should be picked up by the likes of Corey Kispert, Justin Champagnie and Will Riley.
-
Tristan da Silva ORL SF
Magic's Tristan da Silva: Listed as questionable
18m agoDa Silva (shoulder) is questionable for Tuesday's game against the Trail Blazers.
Da Silva has missed the past three games for Orlando, but he remains day-to-day. Jett Howard and Noah Penda could pick up some minutes if da Silva is unable to give it a go.
-
William Karlsson LV C
Golden Knights' William Karlsson: Expected back before Olympic break
9m agoKarlsson (lower body) is set to return prior to the Olympic break, Sin Bin Vegas reports Tuesday.
Karlsson may be in danger of missing the Olympic tournament if Sweden doesn't keep a roster spot open for him. The Knights didn't provide a more concrete recovery timeline for Karlsson, but mid-to-late January seems the most likely timeline to give him enough time to head to Milan.
-
Jack Eichel LV C
Golden Knights' Jack Eichel: Remains day-to-day
11m agoEichel (lower body) is still day-to-way and won't play against San Jose on Tuesday, Hannah Kirkell of Vegas Hockey Now reports.
Eichel will miss his fourth straight game, but he has some additional time to recover before Vegas hosts Colorado on Saturday. He has compiled 12 goals, 41 points and 117 shots on net over 31 appearances this season.
-
Adin Hill LV G
Golden Knights' Adin Hill: Remains week-to-week
13m agoHill (lower body) is still considered week-to-week, according to head coach Bruce Cassidy on Tuesday, Jesse Granger of The Athletic reports.
Hill was labeled week-to-week back in late October, and it seems that status hasn't changed over a two-month span. At this point, fantasy managers probably shouldn't expect the 29-year-old netminder to return before mid-January. Even once cleared to play, Hill's status as the No. 1 backstop in Vegas may be in question now that Carter Hart has been added to the squad.
-
Carter Hart LV G
Golden Knights' Carter Hart: Leaves ice first Tuesday
34m agoHart was the first goalie off the ice Tuesday, Sin Bin Vegas reports, indicating he'll be in goal at home versus San Jose.
Hart has made six appearances for the Knights since his suspension was lifted, posting a 3-1-2 record and 2.56 GAA. While the 27-year-old netminder has been taking the bulk of the workload, six starts in nine outings, he may not be utilized as a true workhorse No. 1 in Vegas, especially once Adin Hill (lower body) is cleared to return.
-
Ben Jones MIN C
Wild's Ben Jones: Returned to AHL
38m agoJones was assigned to AHL Iowa on Tuesday.
Minnesota activated Zach Bogosian (lower body) from injured reserve in a corresponding move. Jones hasn't earned a point in 20 NHL appearances this season while contributing 17 shots on goal, seven blocked shots and 47 hits. He has two assists in three AHL outings during the 2025-26 campaign.
-
Tyson Kozak BUF C
Sabres' Tyson Kozak: Not playing Tuesday
1h agoKozak (upper body) won't play against Ottawa on Tuesday, per Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550.
Kozak participated in Tuesday's morning skate, but he will miss his third straight game. He has chipped in two goals, four points, 19 shots on net, 23 blocked shots and 62 hits across 24 appearances this season.
