Hintz notched a pair of power-play assists, two shots on goal and a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 8-1 win over the Lightning. Over his last nine games, Hintz has three goals and six helpers, with four of those points coming on the power play. He's stuck in a four-game goal drought, but he's doing enough playmaking to offset the lack of scoring. Hintz remains firmly in an all-situations role, which has seen him produce 20 points (six on the power play, two shorthanded), 52 shots on net and a plus-3 rating through 21 appearances.... Stars' Roope Hintz: Supplies assist Tuesday
Hintz notched an assist and three shots on goal in Tuesday's 2-0 win over the Jets. Hintz set up Joe Pavelski's goal in the second period, which stood as the game-winner in a low-scoring game. With three goals and four assists over his last seven contests, Hintz has found a groove since the Stars' top line was reunited after a short separation. The 27-year-old is up to eight goals, 10 assists, 49 shots on net and a plus-2 rating through 19 outings this season.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Roope Hintz: Scores lone goal in loss
Hintz registered an assist in Wednesday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Golden Knights. Hintz tallied in the final minute of the second period, and that was enough to force overtime. The Finn has three goals and three assists over his last five outings, coming on the heels of a four-game slump. He's at eight goals, 17 points, 43 shots on net, 11 blocked shots and a plus-1 rating through 17 appearances this season while maintaining his usual top-line role.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Roope Hintz: Records three-point night in win
Hintz posted a goal and registered two assists in Monday's 6-3 win against the Rangers. Hintz came to play in the home win, ending up with a game-best plus-3 rating, three shots on goal and a blocked shot in his 17:22 of ice time. The 27-year-old Finnish pivot had his second three-point night in the past nine games, and he now has four goals and 10 points in 10 outings in the month of November. He'll look to remain hot heading into Wednesday's contest against the Golden Knights.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Roope Hintz: Tallies on power play
Hintz scored a power-play goal in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime win over the Coyotes. Hintz gave the Stars their first lead of the game in the second period. The 26-year-old is shaking off a four-game scoring drought, posting a goal and an assist over his last two contests. The Finn is up to six tallies, 13 points, 37 shots on net, nine blocked shots and a minus-2 rating through 14 appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Roope Hintz: Ends slump with power-play helper
Hintz notched a power-play assist in Sunday's 8-3 win over the Wild. Hintz snapped a four-game point drought when he helped out on the second of Jason Robertson's two third-period tallies. It's an unusual dry spell for Hintz, who never went more than three games without a point in 2022-23. He hasn't quite been himself this season, but he's still been solid with five goals, seven helpers, 36 shots on net, nine blocked shots and a minus-2 rating through 13 contests. Part of his struggles have been due to the Stars' anemic power play, which broke through five times Sunday and may be turning the corner.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Roope Hintz: Explodes for three points
Hintz picked up two goals and an assist along with three shots, leading the Stars to a 4-3 win over the Oilers on Thursday. Hintz extended the Stars' lead to 3-1 late in the second period when he tapped home a shot in tight on Stuart Skinner. Hintz would also score the game-winning goal in the third period when he tapped in a cross-ice pass from Joe Pavelski to give the Stars a 4-1 lead. This game gives Hintz points in seven of eight games, scoring five goals and 11 points in that span.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Roope Hintz: Two helpers against Flames
Hintz notched two assists, one shorthanded, in Wednesday's 4-3 win over Calgary. His first point of the night was a beauty -- Hintz kicked into high gear and beat everyone to the puck after Dallas had cleared it the length of ice on the penalty kill, then fed a wide-open Jamie Benn out in front of a helpless Jacob Markstrom to open the scoring for the Stars inside the final minute of the first period. Hintz has found the scoresheet in six of seven games to begin his season, amassing three goals and eight points, and he hasn't even gotten going on the power play yet -- after collecting 18 goals and 45 points with the man advantage over the prior two seasons, the 26-year-old has just one tally on the power play so far in 2023-24.... Stars' Roope Hintz: Two points in win
Hintz scored a goal and added an assist in Monday's 5-3 win over the Blue Jackets. Hintz earned his first multi-point effort of the season by factoring in on the Stars' first two goals. He's gotten on the scoresheet in five of six outings, racking up three goals and three assists. The 26-year-old has added 19 shots on net and a minus-2 rating while playing in his usual all-situations role.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Roope Hintz: Picks up helper
Hintz recorded an assist and five shots on goal in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Penguins. Hintz hasn't been held off the scoresheet yet in his four games, posting two goals and two assists after missing Opening Night. The 26-year-old has added 14 shots on net and a plus-1 rating. With the depth of the Stars' offense, Hintz is averaging just 16:09 of ice time per game, but he's still been efficient, if not explosive, to begin the campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Roope Hintz: Tallies in overtime win
Hintz scored a goal on three shots in Saturday's 5-4 overtime win over the Flyers. Hintz missed the season opener Oct. 12, but he's gotten on the scoresheet in all three games he's played. He put the Stars ahead 3-2 with a goal early in the second period. The Finn has two tallies, one assist, nine shots on net and an even plus-minus rating so far. Head coach Pete DeBoer has taken it easy on Hintz in the early going -- the center is averaging 16:26 of ice time per game, down from the 17:33 mark he posted last season. Even with the slight decline in ice time, Hintz's prominent role in the top six coupled with his skill should allow him to continue piling up points.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Roope Hintz: Nets first goal of season
Hintz supplied a goal in a 3-2 win over Anaheim on Thursday. It was Hintz's first goal and second point in two games this year. He finished the 2022-23 campaign with 37 markers and 75 points in 73 contests, which is an offensive pace he should be able to replicate in 2023-24. The 26-year-old is serving on the first line and top power-play unit.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Roope Hintz: Provides assist in season debut
Hintz (upper body) logged an assist and two shots on goal in Tuesday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Golden Knights. Hintz won a faceoff to Joe Pavelski, who tallied the Stars' second goal with a quick shot. After missing all of the preseason and the first game of the regular season, Hintz was eased back in with 16:03 of ice time. The Stars notoriously balance their ice time, so it's not a huge concern in the long run. The 26-year-old put up a career-best 75 points, including 21 on the power play, in 73 outings last season.... Stars' Roope Hintz: Will play Tuesday
Hintz (upper body) will make his season debut Tuesday versus the Golden Knights, Mike Heika of the Stars' official site reports. Hintz missed the first game of the season, but the Stars had a long break after that contest, and he won't miss any additional time. The 26-year-old was also out for all of the preseason. Look for the Finn to center the top line and play on the first power-play unit going forward.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Roope Hintz: Back at practice Friday
Hintz (upper body) practiced without restrictions Friday, according to Mike Heika of the Stars' official site. Hintz was centering Joe Pavelski and Jason Robertson in his usual spot as the top-line center Friday. Hintz had a great 2022-23 campaign, scoring 37 goals and adding 38 assists in 73 games. Hintz appears to be on track to return to the lineup Tuesday after missing Thursday's 2-1 win over St. Louis.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Roope Hintz: Won't play Thursday
Per Lia Assimakopoulos of The Dallas Morning News, Hintz (upper body) will not be in the Opening Night lineup versus St. Louis on Thursday. Coach Pete DeBoer said that it was not worth the risk to play Hintz on Opening Night as the Stars do not play again until Tuesday. Hintz was outstanding last season, scoring 37 goals and adding 38 assists in only 73 games.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Roope Hintz: Considered game-time call
Hintz (upper body) will be a game-time decision versus the Blues on Thursday, Lia Assimakopoulos of The Dallas Morning News reports. Hintz is one of a handful of Stars' centers currently beset by injury concerns, which could make for an interesting Opening Night lineup against the Blues on Thursday. Jamie Benn could be an option to move into Hintz's first-line center role if needed. For his part, Hintz has been practicing with the team and shouldn't be out long term. The Finn figures to remain a top-end fantasy target capable of reaching the 70-point threshold for the third consecutive season in 2023-24.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Roope Hintz: Not practicing Tuesday
Hintz (upper body) is not practicing Tuesday, Saad Yousuf of The Athletic reports. Hintz has practiced a few times in the last week, most recently Monday in a non-contact jersey. The fact that he hasn't been cleared for full contact yet is concerning for his availability for Thursday's season opener versus the Blues. The 26-year-old's status should continue to be monitored over the next couple of days.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Roope Hintz: Skates twice this week
Hintz (upper body) skated Tuesday and Thursday, Saad Yousuf of The Athletic reports. The Stars have expressed little worry over Hintz's injury -- as a top-line player, he doesn't necessarily need to appear in preseason games to be ready at the start of the season. He'll probably be out Thursday versus the Blues, but he hasn't been ruled out for Saturday's preseason finale against the Wild.... See More ... See Less -
Stars' Roope Hintz: Misses practice
Hintz didn't practice due to an upper-body injury Wednesday, Mike Heika of the Stars' official site reports. According to coach Pete DeBoer, the Stars are being cautious with Hintz since there's plenty of time left in the preseason, so it sounds like the 26-year-old pivot's injury probably isn't overly serious. Hintz racked up 37 goals and 75 points through 73 contests last season.... See More ... See Less
