No turf!

That's right: not a single team in the NL Central or NL West has played a single game on artificial turf this season.

In total, that makes 11 teams that haven't toiled on the carpet this season. That's a record for the post-turf era (meaning, roughly, from the early 1990s onward, when artificial surfaces began falling out of fashion). In 2008, the NL West played no games on turf, but never before have two divisions played entirely on wholesome, nutritious grass.

So if you're one of the many who favors a living playing surface over the billiard felt, then consider this a pleasing development.

There is yet hope for this world.
