The baseball world lost a legend on June 16 this season, when longtime Padres great Tony Gwynn passed away at just 54 years old. One of his surviving family members, Tony Gwynn Jr., is still playing Major League Baseball.
Tuesday, for the first time since his father's death, Gwynn Jr. took the batter's box in San Diego's Petco Park as a member of the Phillies. He was greeted with a nice ovation from the opposing fans as he walked to the plate to lead off the game.
Gwynn Jr. did play for the Padres in 2009-10, but, again, this was the first time he played in San Diego since his father's death.
Well done, Padres fans in attendance.
