Mariners' Ian McKinney: Added to pool
McKinney was added to the Mariners' player pool Wednesday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
The 25-year-old lefty has yet to reach the Triple-A level, so he'll likely be part of the pool for primarily developmental reasons. In 28 starts at High-A and Double-A last season (just three of which came at the latter level), McKinney recorded a 3.03 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP, striking out 26.6 percent of opposing batters.

Mariners' Ian McKinney: Reaches MiLB deal with Seattle
McKinney signed a minor-league contract with the Mariners, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.
McKinney spent the past five years in the Cardinals' organization, but he was released over the summer after producing a 5.17 ERA with Double-A Springfield. He then went to an independent league, where he posted a 3.19 ERA and an 11.2 K/9 in 53.2 innings. The southpaw figures to provide organizational pitching depth for the Mariners.
