Miami Heat All-Star guard Dwyane Wade will not play against the Houston Rockets on Sunday after dislocating a finger on his non-shooting hand early during a Saturday night loss to the Washington Wizards.
X-rays on Wade's finger were negative but his status for the remainder of the regular season is not known.
FoxSportsFlorida.com reports that Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said that Wade is "unlikely" to miss any of Miami's playoff games and that he will be re-evaluated on Monday.
After hosting the Rockets on Sunday, the Heat close their regular season travelling to Boston to play the Celtics on Tuesday and then to Washington to face the Wizards on Thursday. Miami is currently the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference with a record of 45-18.
"I'm not going to cry about it," Wade said on Saturday, according to the Associated Press. "When I was sitting on the table before they could put it back in, the worst-case scenario was surgery, and the best-case scenario was this. Obviously it will be sore for a couple of days, but I'll be ready to go when the playoffs start, for sure."
