Magic says Showtime Lakers would sweep Warriors; Draymond Green laughs it off
Magic Johnson thinks the Showtime Lakers would've crushed Golden State
Sure, the Warriors are dominating the NBA playoffs and have one of the most talented rosters we've ever seen in the history of the league. But Magic Johnson is no prisoner of the moment: he's here to remind you about his Showtime Lakers, who he said Monday would handily defeat this Warriors team.
"We'd probably sweep them," Magic Johnson said at an American Express event Monday night.

Johnson's Lakers were more than just a flash in a pan, they were an era of basketball greatness in the 1980s who brought the run-and-gun style into popularity behind Magic, who was a 6-foot-9 ball distributor like no one had seen. But this Golden State team is no slouch themselves.
The Warriors are a perfect 14-0 in the postseason thus far and boast one of the best rosters on paper and from a statistical perspective. While it's difficult to argue that the Magic-led Lakers wouldn't have given them a good run for their money, a sweep seems like a bit of a stretch, don't you think Magic? I'm dubious, as is Draymond, who responded on Tuesday to Magic's boast. Check it out:

Those Lakers, however, won five NBA titles in the 1980s and dominated the sport like many had not seen. It was a generational team that destroyed with talent that included Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
On one hand, you have arguably the best top-heavy roster in the Warriors, and on the other: one of the most productive (in terms of title-producing) the NBA has maybe ever seen.
Could they give them a run? Maybe. But this Warriors team has made LeBron James look like a mere mortal through Games 1 and 2. Sorry Magic, the Warriors don't have the NBA titles to prove their worth in comparison to the Showtime Lakers (at least not yet). But I think I'm siding with Draymond on this one.
