Steve Kerr hasn't been on the sideline with the Golden State Warriors since Game 2 of their first-round playoff series against the Portland Trail Blazers due to back pain stemming from a failed surgery in 2015. Thankfully, it appears his health is improving.

Kerr has been able to attend practices, travel with the Warriors and even give speeches during halftime, as we saw during the Western Conference finals against the Spurs. Still, he is not set to return to the bench for Game 1 of the Finals, which tips off Thursday in Oakland, California. However, Kerr added some intrigue to the situation when he noted Monday that the decision is "up in the air."

The latest official update came from Bob Myers the other day, when the Warriors GM said that Kerr was unable to coach.

Perhaps this latest statement is just wishful thinking from Kerr, or maybe he is indeed close to returning to the bench. Either way, it's a good sign that Kerr is even entertaining the idea.
