Mark Sanchez's clean-shaven look is no accident
We've gone from beardy Mark Sanchez to clean-shaven Mark Sanchez in less than a year. Apparently, that's a good thing for him.
Mark Sanchez looked like this during his final season with the Jets when he sat out the year because of a shoulder injury.

Notice the beard. The long, scraggly hair.
Fast forward to the moments after performing admirably in the Eagles domination against the Panthers on Sunday. This is what Sanchez looked like then.

Clean-shaven and with shorn hair that doesn't peek out from underneath his ski cap.
According to a MMQB.com feature written by Jenny Vrentas, this new Sanchez look is no accident.
That's because last January before the Jets jettisoned Sanchez, his trainer, Todd Norman, had a lunch meeting with Sanchez and another professional athlete, "someone Mark has respect for." That's where Norman told Sanchez he needed to make some cosmetic changes. After assessing that Sanchez badly wanted to find another starting quarterback job, this is what Norman said.
“He’s going to kill me for saying this, but when we had that first meeting, I told him he needed to shave his beard and cut his hair,” Norman said. “I said, ‘Hey, you need to look like a professional, and right now you don’t look like a starting quarterback in the NFL.’ Mark is a good-looking guy, and he just didn’t look like he was keeping himself together. To me, that was part of his rebirth. Making a complete change, even in his appearance.”
It's not an unpopular opinion. After all, ask what happened to Zach Mettenberger after he was named the Titans starter.
Either way, his new look has been a positive for Sanchez.
For one, there's no need for headbands at this point. And for two, no facial hair makes it easier to stay clean when sucking down all those Philly cheesesteaks.
