You probably thought Georges Laraque was done with hockey and wouldn't be heard from in the NHL again, at least as a player. He hopes you're wrong.

The enforcer who most recently played with the Montreal Canadeins in 2010 is hoping that he can come back and play in the league. He's not going to be picky or demanding about it just so long as he gets a shot on the ice again.

Here is what he told Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal:

"I told my agent [Steve Kotlowitz] I'd sign anywhere. I'll take a physical. I'll sign a one-year minimum [salary]. I'd come in like a rookie.

"At my age I wouldn't expect to play every game and if I went from nine minutes a game to four or five, that's fine. I could be a veteran role player. I can't see how a team could turn me down with those terms if they want toughness. I want to end on my own terms and I have something to prove. I'm going to be so motivated to play again.

Laraque wasn't allowed to end on his own terms previously. He was dealing with back issues that seemed to bring the end of his career. But he has been working hard to get back into shape and from the sounds of the Matheson article, is pretty close to os is in good enough health to play.

However I doubt the interest in Laraque would be high. Everybody is pretty aware of the trend in hockey and NHL clubs to slowly drift away from the enforcer types. Although he does have some ability with the stick in his hand -- when he has been able to play close to a full season his point totals have usually been around 20 or higher -- the injury past isn't going to be intriguing for many, I wouldn't think.

Even at the league minimum and just one year I wonder if he'd have any teams knocking at his door. Then again, the gamble is very small and he is already going in with low expectations and saying he'd be OK to spend games in the press box.

So with all of that said, how about a little "Best of Laraque" session.
