St. Louis Blues' comical 'Roar Bacon' meme now has its mascot
The St. Louis Blues have turned a comical autocorrect fail on their Instagram to a full-blown rally meme.
Leave it to the Internet to turn a simple typo in an Instagram post to create full-blown meme for the St. Louis Blues and have it only get more bizarre by the day.
We have to go back to Wednesday night when the St. Louis Blues came back from a 5-2 deficit to beat the Chicago Blackhawks 6-5 in overtime. They scored three goals in the second to make it 5-5, but when the Blues shared their Instagram post with the score, the caption read: “#OurBlues roar bacon with three second-period goals to tie the game 5-5.”
Autocorrect strikes again, as it was supposed to say “roar back.”
Well, Blues fans had a lot of fun with that, using it as a rallying cry after the team ended up winning the game in dramatic fashion. The hash tag took off, T-shirts were made within hours and there was even a Roar Bacon specific Twitter feed to ensure the meme got the full treatment.
Here’s a few samples of what this typo has brought on:

The Blues are even holding a T-shirt design contest to create official wear for the rally meme:
You asked for a #RoarBacon T-shirt. We listened, but need your help on the design. DETAILS: https://t.co/qtojNZsfdZ pic.twitter.com/bvE9yOYYeX

Well now there’s also an actual pig. Captain David Backes waltzed into the Blues’ dressing room Friday and shouted “Roar Bacon” to his teammate. Meanwhile, Backes was holding a live pig, whom he affectionately calls “Piggy Smalls.”

Backes even brought the little fella to meet Coach Ken Hitchock.

Unfortunately, Piggy Smalls got a little overexcited and reportedly had a little accident in the coach's office.
The pig's name is "Piggy Smalls." Backes said that it took a poop in Hitch's office and then admitted some players have wanted to do that.

So this is a thing, now. Hockey’s version of Roll Tide, if you will.
Much like Andrew “The Hamburglar” Hammond got hamburgers thrown to him after wins with the Ottawa Senators last year or the Florida Panthers fans threw plastic rats on the ice back during their Stanley Cup run in the 1990s, Roar Bacon is probably going to be a season-long deal.
Imagine if the Blues lost that game on Wednesday night, though. Then it would just be a delicious typo and nothing more. Anyways, Roar Bacon, y’all.
