Sabres' Peyton Krebs: Garners assist Friday
Krebs recorded an assist and four hits in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Red Wings.
Krebs hasn't scored in March, and his goal drought is up to 14 games since he tallied Feb. 27 against the Panthers. He has six helpers during the slump, and he's also back on the top line at even strength, which gives him a little more scoring potential than he had earlier in the month in a bottom-six capacity. Krebs is at nine goals, 34 points, 78 shots on net, 170 hits, 76 PIM, 37 blocked shots and a plus-7 rating over 73 appearances in what's been a career year for him.

Sabres' Conor Timmins: Notches assist Friday
Timmins recorded an assist and blocked two shots in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Red Wings.
This was Timmins' second game back from a broken leg. The 27-year-old has retaken a third-pairing role for now, but there's no guarantee he'll stay in the lineup over Michael Kesselring or Luke Schenn on a regular basis for the rest of the season. Timmins has seven helpers, 36 shots on net, 74 blocked shots, 28 hits, 16 PIM and a minus-10 rating through 35 appearances on the year.

Sabres' Tanner Pearson: Logs helper in return
Pearson notched an assist in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Red Wings.
Pearson had been out of the lineup for six straight games, though he was considered a healthy scratch Wednesday versus the Bruins. The 33-year-old saw just 5:43 of ice time on the fourth line, but he was able to earn his first point as a Sabre in his second game since he was traded from the Jets. Overall, he has 14 points, 52 shots on net, 69 hits, 27 PIM, 26 blocked shots and a plus-9 rating over 54 appearances this season.

Sabres' Rasmus Dahlin: Pots goal in loss
Dahlin scored a goal on two shots and added four PIM in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Red Wings.
Dahlin has three goals and three assists, as well as a plus-3 rating, over his last five games. The defenseman got the Sabres back within two goals late in the third period, but a comeback effort didn't materialize. Dahlin is up to 16 goals, 66 points, 176 shots on net, 75 blocked shots, 70 PIM, 63 hits and a plus-12 rating over 69 appearances in his usual top-pairing role this season.

Sabres' Tage Thompson: Earns 400th career point
Thompson scored a goal on four shots and added four PIM in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Red Wings.
Thompson's goal was the 400th point of his career, coming in his 521st game. He got the Sabres on the board at 5:35 of the second period. For the season, the 28-year-old center is up to 37 goals, 75 points, 246 shots on net, 75 hits, 44 blocked shots, 33 PIM and a minus-5 rating over 73 appearances. Thompson has finished above a point-per-game pace just once in his career, which was in his best year with 47 goals and 94 points over 78 outings in 2022-23.

Sabres' Alex Lyon: Struggles against Red Wings
Lyon stopped 15 of 19 shots in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Red Wings. The fifth goal was an empty-netter.
Lyon took his second straight defeat, and he's allowed 10 goals on 52 shots over those games. He won six outings in a row before that, so this may be a bit of regression, but the Sabres can't afford to have him slumping while they battle for the top of the Atlantic Division. Lyon is down to 20-9-4 with a 2.69 GAA and a .909 save percentage over 35 appearances this season. Look for Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen to get the nod Saturday versus the Kraken, but Lyon would be in line to start Tuesday against the Islanders if the Sabres continue to alternate goalie starts.

Sabres' Noah Ostlund: Not available Friday
Ostlund (upper body) won't play versus the Red Wings on Friday, Matthew Fairburn of The Athletic reports.
Ostlund didn't take the ice for pregame warmups after missing practice Thursday. He was in attendance for the morning skate Friday, but he'll miss at least one game to recover from the injury. It's unclear if he'll return Saturday versus the Kraken.

Sabres' Alex Lyon: Patrolling home blue paint
Lyon will start Friday's home game against the Red Wings, per Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press.
Lyon will look to bounce back after being handed just his third loss of the calendar year in Sunday's game against Anaheim. Overall, the 33-year-old netminder has a 20-8-4 record, 2.65 GAA and .911 save percentage across 34 outings this season. He'll face off against his former team Friday for the first time since he left Detroit a year ago. The Red Wings rank 21st in the NHL with 2.89 goals per game, giving Lyon a favorable matchup and solid fantasy value for Friday's clash.

Sabres' Noah Ostlund: Considered game-time decision
Ostlund (upper body) is considered a game-time decision for Friday's matchup against the Red Wings, Heather Engel of NHL.com reports.
Although head coach Lindy Ruff labeled Ostlund as day-to-day, the 22-year-old participated in Friday's optional morning skate and is considered a possibility to suit up against Detroit after missing Thursday's practice due to an upper-body injury. If Ostlund is unavailable for Friday's game, Tyson Kozak, Josh Dunne and Tanner Pearson are candidates to suit up.

Sabres' Zach Metsa: Returned to minors
Metsa was reassigned to AHL Rochester on Thursday.
With Conor Timmins back from injury, Metsa was going to face an uphill battle for ice time on the crowded Sabres' blue line. Instead, he'll head back to the minors, where he should be able to log big minutes, including some power-play opportunities. In his 38 games with the Sabres this season, the Wisconsin native has notched two goals, four assists and 22 shots while averaging a mere 10:19 of ice time.

Sabres' Noah Ostlund: Dealing with upper-body issue
Ostlund missed practice Thursday after suffering an upper-body injury, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports.
Ostlund has found the back of the net just once in his last 18 outings, recording 17 shots while adding seven helpers. If the 22-year-old center can't suit up against the Red Wings on Friday, it could mean more ice time for Zach Benson, as well as seeing Alex Tuch reclaim a power-play role.

Sabres' Tage Thompson: Records two power-play helpers
Thompson notched two power-play assists and three shots on goal in Wednesday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Bruins.
Thompson had gone seven games without a helper, and he had just two goals in that span. He set up Jason Zucker twice in Wednesday's contest, helping the Sabres add one standings point to their total for the year. Thompson has been a big part of the team's success with 36 goals, 38 helpers, 22 power-play points, 242 shots on net, 75 hits and a minus-5 rating over 72 appearances in a top-line role.

Sabres' Zach Benson: Lights lamp Wednesday
Benson scored a goal on two shots in Wednesday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Bruins.
Benson is on a four-game point streak, earning three goals and three assists in that span. The 20-year-old winger remains in a fourth-line role and is lacking a power-play role currently, but he's finding ways to remain productive. He's up to 10 goals, matching his total from 75 games last season. He's added 25 assists, 92 shots on net, 35 hits and a plus-25 rating over just 55 appearances in 2025-26.

Sabres' Jason Zucker: Nets two power-play goals
Zucker scored two power-play goals on four shots in Wednesday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Bruins.
Zucker had only one assist over his previous six outings. Despite that slump, he's retained a spot on the top power-play unit, and that's where he was able to cash in twice in this contest. Zucker is up to 22 goals, the most he has had in the last three years, and 39 points over 53 contests this season. The veteran winger has added 111 shots on net, 50 hits, 21 PIM and a minus-4 rating while regularly seeing second-line usage at even strength.

Sabres' Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen: Falters in overtime loss
Luukkonen allowed four goals on 31 shots in Wednesday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Bruins.
Luukkonen has mostly been pretty good lately, but this was far from his best work. He allowed a goal in each period in regulation and ceded the decisive tally to Pavel Zacha just 38 seconds into the extra session. Luukkonen has gone 6-1-1 over his last eight outings, and he's at 17-8-3 on the year with a 2.60 GAA and a .908 save percentage over 29 appearances. With the Sabres deploying a strict goalie rotation since the Olympic break, expect Alex Lyon to get the nod versus the Red Wings on Friday before Luukkonen returns to the crease Saturday versus the Kraken.

Sabres' Mattias Samuelsson: Expected to play Wednesday
Samuelsson (illness) is expected to be in the lineup Wednesday versus the Bruins.
Samuelsson participated in the Sabres' morning skate, so it's not much of a surprise that he's able to play in this contest. He'll be in a top-pairing role alongside Rasmus Dahlin. Samuelsson has three helpers and seven blocked shots over his last four games.
