Wild and crazy scenes in Europa League action on Thursday just prior to kickoff between Lyon and Besiktas in the quarterfinals. Violence broke out in the stands and fans rushed onto the field to take cover.

Fans not involved wanted to of course get as far away as possible and started entering the field:

Security has been heightened all over stadiums in Europe, as this obviously comes just days after the Borussia Dortmund bus explosions prior to a Champions League clash against Monaco. The match was delayed for roughly 45 minutes because of the violent outbreak, which all started after projectiles and firecrackers were thrown from the top of the stands. It remains to be seen if UEFA will step in and fine either club for Thursday's incident.
