Manchester City vs. Manchester United score: Fernandes and Shaw strike to end City's 21-game winning streak
United converted an early penalty and never looked back against the Premier League leaders

Manchester United have ended Manchester City's winning run at 21 consecutive games across all competitions after a 2-0 win at Etihad Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday. The result is unlikely to change the course of the title race with Pep Guardiola's men still 11 points clear of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side, but City's dominant run is now over thanks to goals from Bruno Fernandes and Luke Shaw.
United took the lead within two minutes when the Portuguese star converted from the penalty spot after a clumsy foul by Gabriel Jesus, and it was the Red Devils who scored the vital second goal with the Englishman scoring from a Marcus Rashford assist five minutes into the second half.
Despite their statistical domination, particularly in the first half, City's finishing was wayward with nine shots off target to United's one. City held more than 60% possession but the quality of their chances created was largely subpar.
That is City's first loss in any competition since late November away at Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League and now anybody coming up against Guardiola's side -- like Spurs themselves in the League Cup final -- can see how it is done.
On a day when defending champions Liverpool slipped further out of continental contention, United ensured that they are leading the chase for the UEFA Champions League places behind City and are best placed to capitalize in the event of a highly unlikely capitulation.
