Just the other day Manchester United star Zlatan Ibrahimovic hinted at coming to the United States to play, saying he will conquer America.

If and when he comes wasn't clear, but 2017 looked like an option with his one-year deal with United set to expire. Now, that appears to be off the table.

United announced on Wednesday that it will pick up his option for the 2017-18 season, keeping him at Old Trafford.

The 34-year-old striker has eight goals in 17 matches for United in his first year, with plenty more to give. Coach Jose Mourinho, who has long been a fan of the striker, wanted to keep him on to lead the attack for the following campaign, making the decision early into this season.

But this shouldn't be looked at as the end of Ibra coming to the states. In fact, MLS seems like the most likely destination come the summer of 2018, just a bit later than American soccer fans had hoped.
