The United States Men's National Team can't afford to slip up on Sunday when it hosts Panama in a crucial 2022 Concacaf World Cup Qualifying match in Orlando. There are two games left in the final round of qualifying, and the USMNT (6-4-2) is in the second spot. But things could change in a hurry, with Mexico even, Costa Rica three points behind and Panama (5-3-4) four points off the Americans. Canada is three points ahead in first place. The top three qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup automatically, and No. 4 plays in a one-game playoff against a team from Oceania's confederation. The Americans took a point in Mexico City on Thursday night, playing to a 0-0 draw, while Panama could only muster a 1-1 draw at home against Honduras.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET at Exploria Stadium. The latest USMNT vs. Panama odds from Caesars Sportsbook list Team USA as the -250 favorite (risk $250 to win $100) on the 90-minute money line, while Panama is the +700 underdog. A draw is priced at +310, and the over-under for total goals scored is 2.5. Before locking in any Panama vs. USMNT picks, you have to see what proven soccer insider Martin Green has to say

Why you should back the USMNT

The Americans will be eager to avenge their loss in Panama City in October, when they were playing in a tough atmosphere at less than full strength. Ricardo Pepi (three qualifying goals) and Chrsitian Pulisic (two) both missed that game, but both should be available Sunday. They led the attack on Thursday night, and the USMNT had its chances, putting four of its nine shots on target. In the end it was relieved to get out of Estadio Azteca with a point. Mexico had two shots on net and earned one corner kick despite holding the ball for 63 percent of the match.

Panama had a lot of trouble at home on Thursday against a Honduras team the Americans dominated in a 3-0 victory last month. Team USA peppered the Hondurans with 16 shots, with nine of them on target, while giving up just two (none on net) against Honduras. Panama, meanwhile, only had one shot on net and gave up three and was fortunate to escape with the draw. The Americans have the second-most goals in final-round qualifying (16) and are tied for second-fewest conceded (seven).

Why you should back Panama

Panama should come in with some confidence after beating the Americans 1-0 in October, when they held the USMNT without a shot on target. They have lost to the Americans just twice in nine qualifying meetings (1-6-2). Panama can pile up goals, scoring 15 in the 12 games so far. Cecilio Waterman has seven, while Rolando Blackburn and Gabriel Torres both have four in qualifying. Blackburn scored the only goal Thursday night against Honduras. Anibal Godoy had the winner in the 54th minute in the last meeting and is one of four players with two goals.

The USA squad will be under tremendous pressure and will be juggling a lot of its lineup. Scoring threat Timothy Weah and defender DeAndre Yedlin are both out on yellow-card suspensions and defender Reggie Cannon tested positive for COVID. Panama is relatively healthy, and it is an experienced squad. Both Michael Amir Murillo and Fidel Escobar have more than 45 caps on the back line, while center midfielder Alberto Quintero, Godoy and Torres all have at least 100 appearances.
