WWE Raw results, recap, grades: Drew McIntyre gets The Judgement Day banned, Bron Breakker demolishes Ricochet

With Clash at the Castle less than a week away, Drew McIntyre managed to tip things in his favor just a little bit more ahead of his upcoming match with world heavyweight champion Damian Priest.

McIntyre took up Priest on an offer to face Finn Balor with the stipulation that a McIntyre win would result in the rest of Judgment Day being banned from ringside at Clash at the Castle. That paid off for McIntyre when he picked up the win in the main event.

The challenger now seems to have all the momentum as he prepares to head to his home country of Scotland to try to become  WWE world champion for the fourth time.

CBS Sports was with you all night with recaps and highlights of all the action from Huntington Center in Toledo, Ohio.

Drew McIntyre wins, gets Judgment Day banned from Clash at the Castle match

At the top of the show, Damian Priest laid out a challenge to Drew McIntyre saying that if McIntyre could beat Balor later in the evening, Priest would agree to have Judgment Day banned from ringside for their match. McIntyre accepted the challenge, vowing to humiliate Priest.

The Judgment Day drama didn't stop there, however, with Liv Morgan cornering Dominik Mysterio backstage and saying rather than being with someone he calls "Mami," he should be with someone who calls him "daddy" and gave him a key to her hotel room. Later, Mysterio had put the key on the table in the Judgment Day "clubhouse," with Balor saying it would stay right there before it disappeared. Videos appeared to show Balor palming the key and sliding it into Mysterio's pocket.

Braun Strowman, Dragon Lee & Rey Mysterio def. Carlito, Dominik Mysterio & JD McDonagh via pinfall when Lee splashed Carlito off of Strowman's shoulders. Morgan involved herself in the match, coming on to Dominik until Zelena Vega brawled with her, ultimately causing a semi-distraction that swung the match.

Drew McIntyre def. Finn Balor via pinfall with a Claymore. Priest came to ringside late in the match but that did not change the outcome as McIntyre cemented that Judgment Day will be banned from ringside.

The Mysterio and Morgan angle is going to be a hit or miss depending on your preference for those sorts of things on a wrestling show. More concerning is that it just doesn't feel like they've truly built up any significant heat for McIntyre vs. Priest. The crowd in Scotland will be molten for the match, but it doesn't feel like it's being positioned as even the most important thing in the entire Judgment Day story. McIntyre getting Judgment Day banned from ringside feels like a slick set-up for someone else to cost McIntyre at Clash at the Castle, even if Priest offering up the opportunity with nothing to gain in return made little sense. Grade: B-

What else happened on WWE Raw?

  • Iyo Sky def. Lyra Valkyria via pinfall with a crucifix driver. After the match, Sky continued her assault until Katana Chance and Kayden Carter ran down to make the save.
  • Sami Zayn def. Otis via pinfall with a Helluva Kick. Earlier in the show, Zayn again urged Otis to leave Chad Gable, telling him he doesn't need to stick around and be abused week after week. After the match, Gable attacked Zayn and demanded Otis join in. Otis didn't, leading Gable to slap him twice. Otis eventually splashed Zayn in the corner and delivered a slam but then backed Gable into a corner and was ready to hit him when Gable begged him not to and Otis stormed off.
  • Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark def. Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn via submission when Baszler choked Fyre unconscious.
  • Bron Breakker def. Ilja Dragunov via pinfall with a spear in a highly-competitive, hard-hitting match. Breaker hit three spears down the stretch to score the win. After the match, Breaker was about to spear Dragunov through the ringside barricade when Ricochet came through the crowd, hitting a leaping clothesline and dropkicking Breakker over the barricade. Later in the show, Breaker speared Dragunov as Ricochet was helping him backstage. Ricochet then brawled with Breakker until Breakker threw him head-first into a production truck and then powerslammed him from the steps of the truck through a car windshield. Ricochet was taken away in an ambulance after a commercial break.
