WWE Raw results, recap, grades: Jey Uso defeats Bron Breakker to become intercontinental champion
Uso is a singles champion for the first time in his WWE career
For the fight time in his career, Jey Uso is a WWE singles champion. Uso defeated Bron Breakker in the main event of Raw on Monday night to capture the intercontinental championship.
Uso had to battle his way through a tournament to earn his opportunity at Breakker. While Breakker continually told Uso that he would come up short, Uso made good on his opportunity in a fantastic match to end the show as the intercontinental champion.
CBS Sports was with you all night with recaps and highlights of all the action from Toyota Arena in Ontario, California.
Jey Uso captures the intercontinental championship
Intercontinental Championship – Jey Uso def. Bron Breakker (c) via pinfall to win the title. Earlier in the show, Breakker cut a promo claiming that he would do Uso a favor and give him another shot at the title in a few months, after he'd earned his way back to a title shot. Uso didn't need that wait, however, winning a fantastic back-and-forth match that saw both men nearly take the win several times throughout. Uso finally put the match away with a spear through the ringside barricade followed by another spear in the ring and his second Uso Splash of the match to win his first singles championship.
Truly a surprising result in this one. Uso has spent the past few years establishing himself as a capable singles star and finally got his moment on Monday night. Breakker more than held up his end of the match. Breakker could regain the title quickly but there's no harm in his reign coming to an end quickly by modern WWE standards, he has a long career ahead of him. As the USA Era of Raw reaches its final months, fans were given one more lasting memory as Uso raised the title. Grade: A

Ripley ended the segment by head-butting Morgan. Morgan and Mysterio yelled at Adam Pearce about the shark cage later in the show but Pearce stood firm on his decision.
- Sami Zayn def. Ludwig Kaiser via pinfall with a Helluva Kick. Gunther came out after the match, seemingly ready to tell Zayn he would give him a shot at the world heavyweight championship before revealing the ruse and telling Zayn simply, "no."
- Dragon Lee def. Carlito via pinfall with Operation: Dragon. Lee got the win after Rey Mysterio inserted himself in the action to neutralize Judgment Day's numbers game.
- Braun Strowman and Bronson Reed brawled when Strowman attacked Reed during his entrance for a match with The Miz. The pair repeatedly fought off security to keep the brawl going and it was eventually Reed who was forced to back down. Pearce said that next Monday, Strowman and Reed would meet in a "Last Monster Standing" match.
- Drew McIntyre cut a promo about his Hell in a Cell match with CM Punk at Bad Blood. McIntyre admitted he did not want to enter Hell in a Cell again but that the match was happening either way. McIntyre then promised to make Punk bleed and break things inside him that will never be fixed.
- Damage CTRL def. Unholy Union via pinfall when Iyo Sky hit a moonsault on Isla Dawn.
- Creed Brothers def. New Day via pinfall when Brutus Creed hit a Brutus Ball on Xavier Woods. Chad Gable confronted New Day backstage earlier in the show, leading to the match. Gable interfered late and Woods focused on attacking him rather than his opponents, allowing the Creeds to steal the win.
