This college football trophy is so made up the winning team didn't even want it
After beating UConn on Saturday, UCF left the game's 'rivalry' trophy on the field
UCF doesn't want your dumb old trophy, UConn.
For those who aren't familiar with the lore and tradition of the great college football rivalry known as The Civil conFLiCT, don't feel bad, because there is no such lore or tradition behind the rivalry.
It was literally made up by UConn coach Bob Diaco.
You see, after Diaco took over at UConn in 2014, he decided that his Huskies needed a rival, so he just declared UCF one without even telling the Knights. Diaco then christened the rivalry The Civil conFLiCT -- capital FL for Central Florida, capital CT for Connecticut -- and had a trophy created.

The first two years of the game, UConn won and kept the trophy. Well, on Saturday, UCF beat the Huskies 24-16 to win the trophy for the first time. The problem is, UCF didn't want it.

The irony here is that, while this rivalry does not exist, UCF is actually creating a rivalry with its blatant disrespect for UConn's historic three-year old tradition by ignoring the trophy.
There's no love lost between these two, folks!
