Most referees are not household names, but Mike Defee may soon be just that, and not just because he's leading the officiating crew at the 2017 College Football Playoff National Championship between No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Clemson.
No, it's not Defee's officiating but rather his arms that were the talk of social media on Monday night with fans immediately drawing comparisons between Defee and famous NFL referee Ed Hochuli.
