Oklahoma running back Samaje Perine finished his college career in January, rushing for 86 yards and a touchdown to help the Sooners beat Auburn 35-19 in the Sugar Bowl. In a few months, he’ll likely be drafted by an NFL team and begin his professional career, but before that happens, Perine had some personal business he wanted to take care of.

He proposed to his girlfriend of over five years, and he did so in unique fashion. Perine recruited magician Daniel Fernandez to help him propose with a magic trick. If you don’t want to watch the entire video, skip ahead to the 3:40 mark, which is when the trick begins.

Now, as sweet and touching a moment as that was, the only thing I want to know is how they did it. I figure that Fernandez and Perine had already written the proposal card before hand and Fernandez used the old sleight of hand to swap the cards out without Meg noticing, and then he gives Perine the card Meg wrote on to put in his mouth. It’s just, even after a few viewings, I couldn’t see when he swapped the cards.

So, good job, Daniel.

Oh, and congratulations to Samaje and Meg.
