Cardinals' John Gant: Heading to bigs

Gant was recalled from Triple-A Memphis on Wednesday, Jose de Jesus Ortiz of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

The 24-year-old made three starts in the Redbirds' rotation this season, posting a stellar 2.19 ERA and 1.32 WHIP. With the big-league club releasing Jonathan Broxton, a spot in the bullpen finally opened up for Gant to return to the majors.
