Carlos Quentin: Released by Red Sox

Quentin was released by the Red Sox at the end of minor-league spring training, Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.

This may be the end of the line for the 34-year-old's playing career. Quentin, a two-time All-Star, hasn't appeared in the majors since 2014. He battled injuries throughout his time in the big leagues, topping 100 games played in just three of nine seasons at the highest level.
