Cardinals' Evan Mathis: Plans to retire

Mathis (ankle) said Monday that he plans to retire, Kyle Odegard of the Cardinals' official site reports.

Mathis spent most of the season on injured reserve and is now expected to hang up the cleats for good. The 35-year-old offensive lineman played with six teams throughout his NFL career, making the Pro Bowl twice and winning a Super Bowl last season with the Broncos.
