Lions' Ameer Abdullah: May not return this season

Abdullah (foot) doesn't appear to be the Lions' one player that will be activated from injured reserve this season, MLive.com reports.

Per new rules relating to players on IR, each team can bring back just one to the 53-man roster. Among the Lions' seven on the list at the moment, LB Jon Bostic (foot) was seen running on the side at Wednesday's practice, indicating a return to drills may occur in the near future. As for Abdullah, he continues to rehabilitate the torn ligaments in his foot, which he injured in Week 2. With no specific timeline for his recovery and linebacker more of need in the second half of the season, the Lions will likely continue to roll with Theo Riddick out of the backfield.
