If you follow baseball and football, then you were probably amused when the Cincinnati Bengals drafted former Washington receiver John Ross, who set a new combine record by running a 4.22 40-yard dash. That's because Ross' selection meant Cincinnati was home to the fastest NFL player in addition to the fastest MLB player, in Reds center fielder Billy Hamilton. Now it appears we'll find out which of the two is the fastest of the fastest.

According to Jeff Wallner, Hamilton has accepted Ross' invitation to race for charity -- though all details are presently unknown:

Here's Hamilton talking about Ross' challenge, via the Cincinnati Enquirer:

Who would be the favorite? Seemingly Ross. In the past, Hamilton has estimated he'd run a 40-yard dash in the 4.3-range, citing his belief that he could keep up and/or surpass the fastest NFL prospects with the proper training. Presuming Hamilton hasn't received that training, he'll probably come up just short in a race with Ross.

Not that there's any shame in that. Both dudes are scary fast.
