The first fight of the UFC 205 main card featured Raquel Pennington and Miesha Tate in a women's bantamweight bout where Pennington took down the former champion Tate by a unanimous decision victory.

After the fight, Tate announced in the ring that she would be retiring from mixed martial arts after a 10-year career.

"I'm announcing my retirement, you guys," said Tate. "I love y'all so much. I've been doing this for over a decade. Thank you so much for being here. I love this sport forever. But it's not my time anymore. It's the future's time.

"It's because of the result. I had a lot more to give but I couldn't pull it out of myself. It's been a long time, taken a lot of punishment. I still love this sport. I love you guys so much, thank you, but this is it for me."

Tate retires with an 18-7 record in her career, and hangs up her gloves just two fights after claiming the women's bantamweight title with her win over Holly Holm at UFC 196. She ripped off five straight wins before her two consecutive losses.

Tate will be remembered for her bouts with Ronda Rousey at the beginning of UFC's move to add a women's division.
