Highlights from the show
When the season ended, it was pretty clear that Lamar Jackson was going to take home the MVP award, and that's exactly what happened, and he did it in historical fashion. Jackson received all 50 votes from the Associated Press, making him just the second unanimous MVP in NFL history. The only other time that happened came in 2010 when Tom Brady won the award.
Besides winning MVP, Jackson was also named the FedEx Air Player of the Year. The Ravens quarterback almost took home the Offensive Player of the Year award, but he ended up losing out on that by two votes (19-17) to Saints receiver Michael Thomas. Thomas was named the winner after a year where he set the NFL single-season record for most receptions.
Jackson wasn't the only big winner from Baltimore. The Ravens coaching staff was also honored with multiple awards. Not only was John Harbaugh voted Coach of the Year, but Greg Roman was named the Assistant Coach of the Year. On Harbaugh's end, he received 27.5 votes after leading the Ravens to a 14-2 record. The only other coach who even received more than five votes was San Francisco's Kyle Shanahan, who earned 14.5 (note: All awards are voted on before the playoffs start, so Shanahan making it to the Super Bowl didn't help his case).
As for Roman, he received 41 of the 50 votes, and interestingly enough, Ravens defensive coordinator Wink Martindale also received two votes of his own.
Another big winner in Miami was Stephon Gilmore, who became the first player in Patriots history to be named the Defensive Player of Year. Not only did Gilmore make history in New England, but he also became the first cornerback to win the award since 2009 when Charles Woodson won it.
The tightest race of the night was for Comeback Player of the Year. In that category, Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill beat out Jimmy Garoppolo by just one vote (16-15).
There were a total of five modern-era players chosen for induction into the Hall of Fame's class of 2020: Edgerrin James, Steve Atwater, Isaac Bruce, Troy Polamalu, Steve Hutchinson. Those five will join the centennial class of 15 that was previously announced.

The award for assistant coach of the year (Yes, that award exists), goes to Ravens offensive coordinator Greg Roman. If John Harbaugh takes home coach of the year and Lamar Jackson takes home MVP, it could a big night for Baltimore.
We have 19 of our 20 HOF inductees. The four modern-day players are Polamalu, James, Atwater and Bruce. One more to go.

The Draft Kings Daily Fantasy Player of the year is Christian McCaffrey, just in case you dropped any big bets on who was going to win that key award.
If you need to take a bathroom break, now's the time to do it. We're at a commercial break here in Miami. (Yes, a pre-taped event still pauses for commercial breaks)
Looks like Isaac Bruce is a member of this year's HOF class, joining Atwater and James. Some reports out now about Polamalu making it, but nothing concrete.
