  • Sharks' Logan Couture: Feeling better

Couture (groin) is feeling better and hopes to resume skating in July, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports.

Couture was limited to just six appearances in 2023-24, supplying one assist and seven shots on goal. He is optimistic that he will be ready for training camp in the fall. Couture racked up 27 goals and 67 points in 82 contests during the 2022-23 campaign.

  • Sharks' Fabian Zetterlund: Lone marker in finale

Zetterlund scored a goal on a team-high four shots in Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Flames.

Zetterlund broke up Dustin Wolf's shutout bid with just nine seconds remaining in the third period, roofing a wrister to get the Sharks on the board. The 24-year-old Zetterlund finished the season strong, posting six goals and 12 points in his final 13 contests. He'll wrap up the campaign with 24 goals and 44 points, both career highs -- he figures to play a major role on a rebuilding Sharks team again in 2024-25.

  • Sharks' Georgi Romanov: Needed in relief again

Romanov made 14 saves in relief of Devin Cooley in a 5-1 loss to Calgary on Thursday. Cooley was credited with the defeat.

Romanov's come on in relief of Cooley in each of San Jose's last two games, allowing just one goal on 31 shots in his first two NHL appearances. It's an encouraging, albeit unconventional start to the 24-year-old netminder's NHL career. Romanov has gone 9-9-8 with a .904 save percentage with AHL San Jose since coming over from the KHL prior to the season.

  • Sharks' Devin Cooley: Pulled again in finale

Cooley allowed five goals on 23 shots before being pulled in Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Flames. He was credited with the defeat.

Cooley surrendered two goals in the opening period and another three in the first seven minutes of the second before the 26-year-old netminder was replaced by Georgi Romanov for a second straight game. It was a tough finish to the year for Cooley, who allowed 13 goals on 45 shots in his final two outings. He'll finish the campaign with a 2-3-1 record, an .870 save percentage and a 4.98 GAA.

  • Sharks' Devin Cooley: Gets nod Thursday

Cooley will guard the road crease in Thursday's regular-season finale against Calgary, per Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now.

Cooley struggled tremendously in his last start, allowing eight goals on 22 shots in a 9-2 loss to Edmonton on Monday. The 26-year-old has recorded an .882 save percentage and a 2-2-1 record in five NHL appearances this year.

  • Sharks' Thomas Bordeleau: Nabs helper in loss

Bordeleau notched an assist in Monday's 9-2 loss to the Oilers.

Bordeleau has two helpers over eight games in April. The 22-year-old has maintained steady middle-six minutes and a power-play role, but the Sharks' overall lack of scoring talent hasn't given him many chances to contribute. Bordeleau is at 11 points, 45 shots on net, 19 blocked shots and a minus-18 rating through 26 appearances this season. He should have a chance to compete for a full-time NHL role in training camp.

  • Sharks' William Eklund: Gathers helper Monday

Eklund recorded an assist, three shots on goal and a minus-3 rating in Monday's 9-2 loss to the Oilers.

Eklund has gotten on the scoresheet in eight of the last nine games, earning four goals and seven assists in that span. The 21-year-old winger is up to 45 points, a minus-42 rating, 128 shots on net and 72 blocked shots through 79 appearances. Given the Sharks' poor play overall, Eklund has made a positive impression as the current keystone of the team's rebuild.

  • Sharks' Mikael Granlund: Riding 12-game point streak

Granlund provided an assist and went minus-2 in Monday's 9-2 loss to the Oilers.

Granlund has two goals and 12 helpers during his 12-game point streak. Granlund keeping the streak alive was one of the few bright spots for the Sharks in one of their worst losses of a brutal season Monday. He's now at 12 goals, 47 helpers, 133 shots on net, 61 hits, 55 blocked shots and a minus-21 rating through 68 appearances on the year.

  • Sharks' Danil Gushchin: Scores in blowout loss

Gushchin scored a goal in Monday's 9-2 loss to the Oilers.

Gushchin has a goal and an assist over three NHL appearances this season. The 22-year-old winger has added five blocked shots and four shots on net over that stretch. He posted 54 points over 56 contests with AHL San Jose prior to his call-up. Gushchin has been given plenty of time to develop in the AHL, so he should have a chance at an NHL job out of training camp in the fall.

  • Sharks' Fabian Zetterlund: Scores late in loss

Zetterlund scored a goal on two shots, added five hits and went minus-2 in Monday's 9-2 loss to the Oilers.

Zetterlund has three goals and five assists over his last nine outings. The 24-year-old's tally Monday was far too late to make a difference in the game, but it's good to see him still making an effort late in a lost season for the Sharks. He's at 23 goals, 43 points, 200 shots on net, 120 hits, 71 blocked shots and a minus-31 rating through 81 appearances.

  • Sharks' Georgi Romanov: Makes NHL debut in relief outing

Romanov stopped 16 of 17 shots in relief of Devin Cooley in Monday's 9-2 loss to the Oilers.

Edmonton eased up after chasing Cooley from the game, though Romanov also put in a solid effort. The 24-year-old has a 3.14 GAA and a .904 save percentage over 29 AHL outings this year, so fantasy managers shouldn't be expecting much from him during his first taste of the NHL. It's unclear if Romanov will be given his first NHL start Thursday in Calgary.

  • Sharks' Devin Cooley: Ugly showing Monday

Cooley allowed eight goals on 22 shots in Monday's 9-2 loss to the Oilers.

Cooley was pulled just over halfway through the second period, but the game was already long over at that point. The 26-year-old has given up 20 goals over five appearances this season while recording a 2-2-1 record at the NHL level. If he gets the starting nod, Cooley won't be a particularly strong fantasy option for Thursday's game versus the Flames, but it would at least be a better matchup than Monday's was.

  • Sharks' Alexander Barabanov: Ruled out for the year

Barabanov (lower body) will miss San Jose's last two games of the season, Max Miller of The Hockey News reports.

Barabanov will finish the season having picked up just four goals and 13 points through 46 games while skating in a middle-six role. It remains to be seen if the Sharks will express interest in re-signing Barabanov, a pending unrestricted free agent, this summer.

  • Sharks' Jacob MacDonald: Out for remainder of season

MacDonald (undisclosed) will miss the final two games of the 2023-24 season, according to Max Miller of The Hockey News.

MacDonald wasn't able to play Saturday against Minnesota after getting injured in Thursday's 3-1 win over Seattle. He will conclude the campaign with seven goals, nine points, 49 shots on net and 40 hits in 34 appearances.

  • Sharks' Mike Hoffman: Out for rest of season

Hoffman will miss the final two games of the season due to an undisclosed injury, Max Miller of The Hockey News reports.

Hoffman will finish the season having collected 10 goals, 23 points and an ugly minus-21 rating through 66 contests. The 34-year-old winger is set to hit the market as an unrestricted free agent this summer, and he'll likely need to settle for a short-term deal and a bottom-six role in order to see regular NHL time in 2024-25.
