It was another great day of action at the Rio Olympics on Tuesday, as the U.S. gymnasts asserted their dominance one final time before heading home.

There was also history made on the track and on the beach volleyball court.

Here are some takeaways from Day 11 of the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Biles bounces back

After her lone stumble of the games (bronze in the balance beam final), Simone Biles came back strong on Tuesday to take gold in the floor exercise final. She finished her first Olympics with five medals, four gold.

Amazing Aly

If not for fellow American Biles, Aly Raisman would have won gold in the floor exercise. Instead she takes home silver, her third medal in Rio and sixth overall.

Can't win them all

Kerri Walsh Jennings did something she'd never done before at the Olympics -- she lost. Walsh Jennings and partner April Ross lost in two sets to the Brazilian duo of Agatha and Barbara, who will advance to Wednesday night's gold medal match. Walsh Jennings and Ross will play for bronze, also on Wednesday.

Distance destiny

Jennifer Simpson became the first American - woman or man -- to medal in the 1,500-meters, taking bronze in the final on Tuesday night. A strong push in the final stretch allowed her to make history.

Watch that first step

A miscue on the first hurdle of the men's 110-meter hurdles semifinal made Haitian Jeffrey Julmis an instant celebrity. He mistimed his steps and suffered a difficult crash, but picked himself up to finish the race anyway.
