While the men's basketball and women's soccer teams are getting all the love this week, the individual sports are doing just as much dominating for the U.S.

The very first medal of the Olympics in Rio was handed out on Saturday morning and, low and behold, the country with the largest representation at the Games (555) took home gold.

Ginny Thrasher took home gold in 10-meter air rifle shooting. It is the first medal of the year as the U.S. looks to top its total from 2012 where they took home 43 gold medals and 102 overall. The U.S. will have more opportunities on Saturday night when the swimmers take center stage.
