WWE SmackDown results, recap: Nakamura finish a prelude to Money in the Bank?
Shinsuke Nakamura just might walk out with the MITB briefcase on Sunday in St. Louis
As with most go-home television shows, there was not much accomplished Tuesday night on WWE SmackDown Live. Ultimately, the show excited to promote Sunday's pay-per-view and the two Money in the Bank ladder matches that will be held at the event. Two women's matches and six-man tag team main event accomplished that, and though the show was slow overall, there were a couple bright moments.
The 30-minute opening of the show left a lot to be desired, but an effective segment with Jinder Mahal and Randy Orton, coupled with a surprise from Lana and one of the best editions of Fashion Files yet provided at least some entertainment on Tuesday.

WWE SmackDown results
In the ring -- The New Day, The Usos, Breezango and The Colons: Accompanied to the ring by a New Orleans jazz band, New Day put over that WrestleMania 34 would be held in N'awlins and made fun of The Usos, which did not take kindly to their words. The Fashion Police and Colons both followed with one-liners of their own, setting up an eight-man tag team match already announced for the show.
The New Day & Breezango def. The Usos & The Colons via pinfall: Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods teamed up for a diving double foot stomp backbreaker to pick up the victory.
This two segments took up one-fourth of the entire show (30 minutes). What a waste of time.
Backstage -- AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura and Sami Zayn: Styles and Nakamura were relaxed backstage when an enthused Zayn jumped into the conversation and tried to talk strategy. The two veterans no-sold his efforts and just agreed that what he said sounded good for the match. Nakamura eventually winked at Zayn and said, "I like him," when he walked away.
Backstage -- Mojo Rawley and Zack Ryder: After thanking commissioner Shane McMahon for a shot against Jinder Mahal last week, Rawley said he was motivated to overcome the loss and make the most out of his time on SmackDown. That's when Ryder appeared, informing Rawley he was back and that they had plenty left to accomplish as a tag team, which Rawley bought into.
Naomi def. Tamina Snuka via pinfall: Lana watched the entire match from ringside but did not interfere. Naomi hit a split-legged moonsault for the victory, and Lana took the opportunity to hop into the ring and blindside the champion. Lana then impressed with a one-legged sit down powerbomb and held the title in the air after the fact.
So ... Lana has a move (and it's a better finisher than most in this division). We'll find out if she has two on Sunday.

In the ring -- Jinder Mahal and Randy Orton: The WWE champion demanded that the crowd stand up and show him respect before calling Orton a coward and promising to embarrass him in front of his family and other legends in the crowd on Sunday. As Mahal began speaking Punjabi, the "U-S-A" crowds started drowning him out before Orton's music hit. Mahal ordered the Singh Brothers out of the ring to attack Orton on the entrance ramp, but the veteran snuck in behind Mahal and hit him with an RKO right on his rug. After the commercial break, Orton promised to win back the title while in a backstage interview.
I'm not expecting Orton to beat Mahal on Sunday, but creative has built this up to be a legacy type match for Orton, who will be defending his family's name and fighting in front of his hometown crowd. This was perhaps Mahal's best segment as champion, though to be candid, that's not saying much.

Backstage -- Kevin Owens, Dolph Ziggler and Baron Corbin: Owens interrupted Ziggler and Corbin, who were quietly preparing for the match in the locker room. He suggested the trio work together and not take one another's heads off simply so they were not all worse off entering Money in the Bank.
Charlotte Flair def. Natalya via pinfall: A clean win for Flair, who did her father's strut during the match and hit Natural Selection to pick up the 1-2-3 on her competitor in Sunday's ladder match.
Fashion Files -- Sweet Victory: The latest edition continued the film noir style and included Fandango coming upon Tyler Breeze attacked in their office. They were wearing the RompHims gifted to them by The New Day last week. Breeze said he was attacked by two men, and they immediately began a search.
Have YOU seen @mmmgorgeous' attackers?

Backstage -- Lana: The latest addition to the SmackDown women's division promised to "crush" Naomi and become the first "ravishing" women's champion.
AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura & Sami Zayn def. Kevin Owens, Dolph Ziggler & Baron Corbin via pinfall: Zayn found himself in a tough spot late in the match and was unable to tag his partners as they were pulled from the ring apron simultaneously. Corbin used that opportunity to hit Zayn from behind and looked to be poised for a revenge victory. Instead, Zayn countered with the Helluva Kick, pinning Corbin yet again. Owens and Ziggler brought a ladder into the ring after the match and clotheslined both Zayn and Styles with it. They both pointed at the MITB briefcase after that, giving Corbin an opening to run down both and knock them out of the ring with the ladder. He then opened the ladder and began to climb to the top until Nakamura knocked it over, hit Corbin with Kinshasa, climbed the ladder himself and grabbed the briefcase off the hook.
A bit surprising that Zayn once again went over Corbin. Besides that, exactly what you would expect from a go-home show main event. Definitely have high hopes for Money in the Bank, but tonight's show was a dud.
