2020 Pac-12 Tournament canceled Thursday amid coronavirus pandemic concerns
The Pac-12 was one of many conferences to bring a halt to its annual tournament on Thursday
The Pac-12 Tournament quarterfinals were set to take place on Thursday but the annual postseason event has been canceled over concerns of coronavirus outbreak, the league announced Thursday morning. The conference's decision was made in near-lock step with the Big Ten, Big 12, ACC, SEC and AAC, which also canceled its regularly-scheduled postseason tournament games.
"The Pac-12 Conference has made the decision to cancel the remainder of the Pac-12 men's basketball tournament and all Pac-12 sport competitions and Pac-12 championship events, effectively immediately, until further notice," the league said in a statement. "This decision has been made in consultation with our member universities in an effort to limit the spread of the virus and in the interest of the health and safety of our student-athletes, campus personnel, working and event personnel, and all those who attend Pac-12 events."
Before the cancellation, top-seeded Oregon was set to face 8-seeded Oregon State in the first of four games on Thursday's slate, which was set to culminate with a late-night tip between Washington State and Arizona State.
