In an awesome display of support, DePaul has signed an 11-year-old with muscular dystophy to a National Letter of Intent for the 2014-15 season.

Brandon McMahon was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a genetic disease that creates severe muscle weakness, at six-years-old. The current average life expectancy of those with this affliction is only 25-years-old.

Here was DePaul's release:

McMahon signed his National Letter of Intent on Nov. 13 with his newest teammate and coaches. The DePaul men's basketball and softball programs have partnered with Team IMPACT whose mission is to improve the quality of life for children facing life-threatening and chronic illnesses through the power of team. "We are tremendously excited about announcing the addition of Brendan McMahon to our program," said Purnell. "We have every confidence that bringing Brendan on board will strengthen the grit, the determination and the heart of our team."

Also, here is the video of the press conference where he signed his letter of intent:

This is such a great move from the DePaul basketball program. It's great to see them giving back to a kid that unfortunately wasn't born under the best circumstances. Hopefully the good will that they earn from doing something like this translates to wins on the basketball court this season.
