The Elon Phoenix will look to defend their home court Wednesday against the Winthrop Eagles at 7 p.m. ET. Winthrop will be strutting in after a win while the Phoenix will be stumbling in from a defeat.

The contest between Elon and the North Carolina Tar Heels this past Saturday was not a total blowout, but with Elon falling 80-63 on the road, it was darn close to turning into one. Guard Hunter McIntosh wasn't much of a difference maker for Elon; McIntosh finished with 16 points on 6-for-13 shooting and turned the ball over six times in his 33 minutes on the court.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Winthrop against the Carver College Cougars this past Saturday as the team secured an 83-52 victory.

Elon is expected to lose this next one by 4.5. Those who got lucky with them against the spread this past Saturday might want to hold off on placing bets this time since the squad has yet to string together back-to-back wins against the spread.

The Phoenix are now 2-8 while the Eagles sit at 6-4. Winthrop has experienced some struggles of their own as they are 31st worst in college basketball in points allowed per game, with 76.3 on average. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
