What to Know

After a three-game homestand, the Marquette Golden Eagles will be on the road. Marquette and the Georgetown Hoyas will face off in a Big East battle at 6:30 p.m. ET Friday at Capital One Arena. The teams split their matchups last year, with the Golden Eagles winning the first 64-60 and Georgetown taking the second 68-49.

Marquette couldn't have asked for a better start to 2022 than the 88-56 stomp they dished out against the Providence Friars at home on Tuesday. Forward Justin Lewis was the offensive standout of the contest for Marquette, posting a double-double on 23 points and 11 boards.

Meanwhile, Georgetown came up short against the TCU Horned Frogs two weeks ago, falling 80-73. Despite the loss, the Hoyas had strong showings from guard Donald Carey, who had 12 points and five assists along with five rebounds, and guard Aminu Mohammed, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 boards.

Barring any buzzer beaters, the Golden Eagles are expected to win a tight contest. But bettors beware: they are only 1-4 against the spread when favored.

Marquette ended up a good deal behind Georgetown when they played when the two teams previously met in March of last year, losing 68-49. The defeat knocked Marquette out of the playoffs, so expect them to come at Georgetown with a vengeful fire.
