What to Know

The Pittsburgh Panthers' homestand continues as they prepare to take on the #4 Duke Blue Devils at 8 p.m. ET March 1 at Petersen Events Center. Duke will be strutting in after a win while the Panthers will be stumbling in from a loss.

A victory for Pitt just wasn't in the stars last Tuesday as the squad never even grasped a temporary lead. They have to be aching after a bruising 85-64 defeat to the Miami (Fla.) Hurricanes. Guard Ithiel Horton wasn't much of a difference maker for Pitt; Horton played for 32 minutes but put up just six points on 3-for-12 shooting and four turnovers.

Meanwhile, Duke made easy work of the Syracuse Orange this past Saturday and carried off a 97-72 victory. It was another big night for Duke's center Mark Williams, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 12 boards in addition to three blocks.

The Panthers have to know they'll be fighting an uphill battle given the 14.50 point spread they are up against. Now might not be the best time to take Pitt against the spread since they've let down bettors for the past two consecutive games.

Pitt is now 11-18 while Duke sits at 25-4. Duke is 20-4 after wins this season, and Pitt is 7-10 after losses.
