How To Watch

What to Know

If the oddsmakers' predictions hold true, the near future looks bright for LMU. They will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Prairie View Panthers at 9:00 p.m. ET at Gersten Pavilion. The Lions will be strutting in after a win while the Panthers will be stumbling in from a defeat.

LMU took a loss when they played away from home last Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They managed a 68-64 victory over Nevada.

LMU got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jevon Porter out in front who scored 12 points plus eight rebounds and three blocks. Porter had some trouble finding his footing against Colo. State last Wednesday, so this was a step in the right direction. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Merkviladze, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Prairie View's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Sunday after their eighth straight loss. They fell 91-84 to Miss. State. The Panthers were up 27-12 in the first but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Nick Anderson, who had 21 points. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Marcel Bryant was another key player, going 7 for 13 en route to 19 points plus seven rebounds and two steals.

The victory got LMU back to even at 4-4. As for Prairie View, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

Saturday's matchup is shaping up to be a scrappy game: LMU has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 36.2 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Prairie View, though, as they've been averaging only 29.1. Given LMU's sizable advantage in that area, Prairie View will need to find a way to close that gap.

LMU came out on top in a nail-biter against Prairie View in their previous meeting back in November of 2021, sneaking past 83-80. Does LMU have another victory up their sleeve, or will Prairie View turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
