Former Republican presidential candidate and politician Ted Cruz is best known for his political career. But among the sports and college basketball community, a running joke that he and Duke star Grayson Allen have a striking resemblance.

So Monday, Deadspin sent out a tweet asking for proof of the politician playing basketball. And Cruz responded in the most hilarious way possible: attaching a photo of Grayson Allen.

Just when the comparisons were almost dead, Cruz goes and does something like this and totally redeems himself.

And, Cruz was just getting started.
