What to Know

The Memphis Tigers will be returning home after a two-game road trip. Memphis and the SMU Mustangs will face off in an American Athletic battle at 7 p.m. ET Thursday at FedExForum. The teams split their matchups last year, with the Tigers winning the first 76-72 at home and SMU taking the second 67-65.

Memphis lost 72-71 to the East Carolina Pirates on Saturday on a last-minute half-court bomb from East Carolina's guard Brandon Suggs with 0:01 remaining. Forward Emoni Bates had a pretty forgettable game, playing for 28 minutes with and four turnovers.

Meanwhile, SMU was able to grind out a solid victory over the Tulane Green Wave on Saturday, winning 75-66. The Mustangs relied on the efforts of guard Kendric Davis, who shot 7-for-10 from downtown and finished with 24 points, and guard Emmanuel Bandoumel, who had 17 points in addition to five rebounds. Bandoumel hadn't helped his team much against the South Florida Bulls last week, so this was a nice turnaround for him.

The Tigers are the favorite in this one, with an expected 6-point margin of victory. Now might not be the best time to take Memphis against the spread since they've let down bettors for the past four consecutive games.
