Furman @ North Carolina
Current Records: Furman 7-3; North Carolina 7-2
What to Know
The Furman Paladins will head out on the road to face off against the North Carolina Tar Heels at 7 p.m. ET Tuesday at Dean E. Smith Center. Both teams seek to continue their momentum from their previous wins.
The Paladins were able to grind out a solid win over the App. State Mountaineers this past Friday, winning 73-65.
Meanwhile, while not quite a landslide, the matchup between UNC and the Elon Phoenix this past Saturday was still a pretty decisive one as the Tar Heels wrapped it up with an 80-63 victory at home. UNC can attribute much of their success to forward Dawson Garcia, who had 22 points in addition to seven boards, and guard Caleb Love, who had 22 points along with five rebounds. Garcia had some trouble finding his footing against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets last week, so this was a step in the right direction.
Furman have to know they'll be fighting an uphill battle given the 11.50 point spread they are up against. However, those who like betting on the underdog should be happy to hear that they are 2-0 against the spread when expected to lose.
Furman is now 7-3 while UNC sits at 7-2. A couple offensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: The Paladins come into the game boasting the 12th most points per game in college basketball at 83.9. The Tar Heels are not quite as good, but they are no chumps, either: they rank 34th in college basketball when it comes to points per game, with 81.1 on average. Tune in for what's sure to be a high-scoring contest.
