Pitino picks a design and body placement for his promised tattoo
Rick Pitino is going to get himself a tattoo because Louisville won the national championship. This is terrific. And it should become custom for every coach of every champion in hoops for the next 30 years.
Louisville coach Rick Pitino told his players he'd get some permanent ink on his epidermis if they won him a championship.
The Cardinals did that, so Pitino's gotta keep his promise. On CBS This Morning earlier this week, Pitino reiterated that he will indeed get himself to a parlor and get a permanent etching. So what's the design, Rick? And where exactly are you going to get this tat placed?
"I said it ... not believing this was going to be a reality but I am going to get it. I'm a man of my word. I'm going to get it on my left shoulder," Pitino explained. "It will be a cardinal and it will say 2013 champions."
How titillating, how avian.
I'm hoping this happens as soon as possible because, and I can't believe I'm writing this, the blog needs images of Rick Pitino and his tattoo. I hope the rest of the team can convince the tattoo artist to buzz Russ Smith's face atop the cardinal's body.
UPDATE: Pitino went on "The Jim Rome Show" Friday and gave up the who and when the art is getting done. Apparently Cardinal Mike Marra has a brother who is a tattoo artist. So he'll be visiting Louisville for Marra's graduation next month, and when he's in town that's when Pitino will be tatted up.
Whenever the deed is done and the image finds its way to the Internet, we'll have it up for you approximately 40 seconds later.
