What to Know

The East Carolina Pirates are 1-11 against the SMU Mustangs since January of 2016, but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit Saturday. The Pirates and SMU will face off in an American Athletic battle at 6 p.m. ET at Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum. Speaking of close games: SMU sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 85-83 win over the Houston Cougars on Wednesday. Guard Kendric Davis was the offensive standout of the game for SMU, picking up 22 points and seven assists along with seven boards. Davis had some trouble finding his footing against the Wichita State Shockers on Saturday, so this was a step in the right direction.

The Pirates are expected to lose this next one by 6.5. Those playing the odds have seen things go back and forth with East Carolina, who are 12-11 against the spread.
