The first opportunity for high school prospects to lock up scholarships and sign financial aid agreements begins Wednesday and lasts through Friday during the early signing period. The first National Signing Day for the Class of 2026 has arrived, and as we've learned over the years, a vast majority of the nation's top players already made their college decisions by the time Wednesday came to a close. In other words, the early signing period shapes the way the Class of 2026 will look across the country come February, particularly for some of the nation's top teams.

The Trojans have the No. 1-ranked class in 2026, as 247Sports is calling the race. 

A few notes on what that means:

• USC is the first non-SEC school to have the top-ranked class since Miami in 2008
• An SEC school has had the No. 1 recruiting class for 17 straight years
• The last non-SEC school to even finish with a top-2 class was Ohio State in 2021.
