As of September 2014, T. Boone Pickens had an estimated net worth of $1 billion, so the hedge fund chair is certainly not in the position where he's looking to save money.

Nevertheless, the Oklahoma State booster took it upon himself to reach out to Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant -- he of a new five-year, $70 million contract ($45 million guaranteed) -- to inquire as to whether his wealthy friend would be interested in sending a bit of his money back to Stillwater, Oklahoma, and sharing naming rights on the school's stadium.

Pickens was kidding, of course.

To date, Pickens has donated more than $1 billion worth of land and money to Oklahoma State with more $265 million of his monetary gifts benefitting the Cowboys athletic program.

His $165 million gift in December 2005 was the largest single donation to a collegiate athletic department in American history. It paved way for a $260 million renovation to Boone Pickens Stadium and a number of other Oklahoma State athletic upgrades.

So yes, if Bryant wants in on Pickens' offer to share naming rights, he's going to have to pony up.

And just in case Bryant decides to do so, it looks like Pickens has already set up his "under the influence" defense to get out of the offer.
