Top Kelvin McKnight News

  • Kelvin McKnight: Needs new home

McKnight was waived by the Broncos on Monday, Aric DiLalla of the team's official site reports.

McKnight spent time on Denver's practice squad last season after going undrafted out of Samford, but he won't stick with the team heading into training camp. A victim of offseason additions making for a crowded receiver room, McKnight will look for a shot at a depth role elsewhere.

  • Broncos' Kelvin McKnight: Sticks with Denver

McKnight signed a reserve/future contract with the Broncos on Monday, mMike Klis of 9News Denver reports.

McKnight joined the Broncos after going unselected in April's draft and eventually ended up on the practice squad.

  • Kelvin McKnight: Returns to Denver

McKnight signed with the Broncos' practice squad Tuesday, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.

McKnight went undrafted out of Samford in April and signed with the Broncos shortly thereafter, but he was unable to crack the season-opening roster. The undrafted rookie has a slightly better chance of earning a look on the 53-man roster now that Emmanuel Sanders was shipped to San Francisco.

  • Broncos' Kelvin McKnight: Gets work with first team

McKnight earned reps with the starting offense on Friday and was able to make a clutch first-down catch, Troy Renck of ABC 7 Denver reports.

Renck later reported that McKnight has been one of the sleepers through the first week of camp. With the first four wide receiver slots all but set, McKnight may be competing with fellow unheralded rookies JuWann Winfree and Trinity Benson for one or two spots. For his part, McKnight brings an All-American pedigree from FCS contender Samford, where he nabbed 313 passes for 4,357 yards and 32 touchdowns in four seasons, including a 14-catch, 215-yard clinic against Florida State in 2018. His capabilities as a punt returner may prove to be a difference maker.

  • Broncos' Kelvin McKnight: Signing with Denver

McKnight signed a contract with the Broncos on Thursday, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.

McKnight was one of seven undrafted rookies signed by the Broncos on Thursday. The Samford product will certainly have his work cut out for him, as the Broncos drafted two other pass catchers -- tight end Noah Fant in the first round and wide receiver Juwann Winfree in the sixth round -- who seem likely to get more reps heading into training camp.
